Philly’s Beer and Frozen Dessert Supremacy

November 11, 2011

A heartfelt gratitude from PhiLAWdelphia  on this Veterans Day to the vets and current servicemembers for their sacrifices, large and small. A special thanks to our brethren serving as JAGs and other legal posts in the military—you make us proud.

By now, it’s well settled that Philly is one of the best places to drink beer in the country, if not the world. But it’s also one of the best places in the world for frozen dessert. National Geographic has dubbed Capogiro the best place in the world for frozen dessert. And Marc Vetri—a local treasure described as the best Italian chef in the USA by big-timers Bobby Flay, Mario Batali and Tom Colicchio—agrees, proclaiming that Capogiro beats any gelato in the U.S. or Italy!

Well, now you can have your beer and it in frozen dessert form, too. Our own Victory Brewing Company has introduced beer ice cream! There are three varieties, all non-alcoholic, made from Golden Monkey, Hop Devil and Storm King. Unfortunately, for now you can only buy it at the brewery and in local shops out in Downingtown. Let’s hope a grocery like Green Aisle, which specializes in unique specialty foods, get some of this stuff soon.
