Petition Politics

March 14, 2007

Another interesting development in the Brady petition challege that shows how political the situtation is:

The Legal Intelligencer reports this morning that President Judge Darnell Jones has ordered an out-of-county trial judge to oversee the legal challenge to Bob Brady’s mayoral candidacy.  Bob Brady, as Philadelphia’s longtime Democratic Party chief has had a hand in the success of countless Philly judicial candidates.

Will an out-of-county trial judge be immune to the pull of Philly politics??

Tom Knox, though not named as the objector himself, is funding a group of voters in their challenge of Brady’s petition.   Does anyone know the legal or political reason Tom Knox did not name himself as the/a challenger?  Seems a little form over substance to me.

Paul Rosen and Andy DeFalco of Spector Gadon & Rosen are representing the Knox-affiliated group.  Here’s a shout out to young lawyer Andy DeFalco.
