Hump Day Helper: Outdoor Movie Screenings, Bike Routes, “Only in Philly” Craftbrews, and Free Music for a Good Cause

August 3, 2011

Now that it’s cooled down a bit (high 80s sure seems comfortable after multiple rounds of punishing heat waves), it’s time to get outside to enjoy the summer evenings.

There are scads of outdoor movie screenings coming down the pipe, including showings tonight at UPenn’s Institute of Contemporary Art, tomorrow on the banks of the Schuykill and Friday at the Franklin Institute. And with the city growing rapidly greener and more bike friendly, it’s a good time to gear up and check out some of the city’s choice bike routes. On the way, consider trying one of several craftbrews unique to Philly or stopping at one of the local gastropubs recently anointed by the New York Times Magazine. And when you get home, relax to some free tunes from artists including Dr. Dog, Wilco and Tom Waits, who are offering up the downloads as a show of support for public radio.
