Celebrating Independence

By John E.

Here’s hoping that everyone is celebrating Independence Day in an enjoyable and safe manner.

Little known fact: back in 1776 (eleven score and twelve years ago), Congress actually voted to declare independence on July 2. The final version of the Declaration was officially signed on July 4, but technically, the country “declared” independence two days earlier. It would not be the worst idea to celebrate both days declared holidays.

While all is not completely great with the country and the world today, we should still celebrate our independence. To paraphrase Lee Greenwood, be proud to be an American, where at least you know you’re free.
